Top Specifications
Engine Make (Model):
Shibaura N844
Axle:
2WD/4WD
This specification notes whether the tractor has driving power delivered only to its rear axle and wheels (2 Wheel Drive or 2WD), or if the front axle and wheels can also be engaged (4 Wheel Drive or 4WD).
Engine Power:
40 hp (29.8 kW)
Engine power is measured in horsepower, giving an indication of how capable a vehicle is at moving itself. Consequently, the more horsepower a vehicle possesses, the quicker it can move between point A and B.
Total Weight:
3,295 lb (1494 kg)
Cylinders:
4
Standard 3-Point Lift Capacity (at lower link point):
3,275 lb (1486 kg) Max.
This is a standard measure for comparing how much weight a tractor can lift at its 3-Point Hitch. When comparing tractors, be sure to compare measurements taken from the same point on the 3-Point Hitch.
Displacement:
121.7 cu in (2.0 L)
The total volume of air/fuel mixture an engine can draw in during one complete engine cycle.
Standard Transmission:
2 Range Hydrostatic
Optional Transmission:
Synchronized - Gear
Number of Forward / Reverse Speeds:
Infinite, 2 ranges plus Hi-Lo
Number of Forward / Reverse Speeds:
12F x 12R
PTO (Power Take-Off) Horsepower:
33.3 hp (24.8 kW)
PTOs can be located at the rear, middle (belly) or front of the tractor in the form of a rotating, splined shaft. PTO horsepower is the measurement of power at the PTO shaft. It is the power available to do work with an attached implement.
PTO (Power Take-Off) Horsepower:
33.5 hp (25.0 kW)
PTOs can be located at the rear, middle (belly) or front of the tractor in the form of a rotating, splined shaft. PTO horsepower is the measurement of power at the PTO shaft. It is the power available to do work with an attached implement.
Platform, Comfort & Controls
The Boomer 3040 Compact Tractor is available with deluxe features that make operation comfortable and easy.
The logical control placement and clean, open Boomer operator platform help you get each job done more quickly and efficiently, and with less fatigue. And it adjusts to suit operators of all sizes.
SuperSteer™ FWD Axle (optional)
The patented, award-winning SuperSteer™ front-wheel drive axle option has an extremely tight turnaround diameter.
You'll maneuver easily around obstacles and make extra-tight turns at the end of each pass, when mowing or grading, to complete the job more quickly and efficiently.
How does it work? The SuperSteer FWD axle articulates when the wheels turn. The inside wheel moves away from the frame, while the outside wheel moves in front of the bumper/nose of the tractor, providing more tire clearance and a greater turn angle. And the SuperSteer wheelbase is longer than conventional FWD, providing a smoother more stable ride.
Sensitrak™ System (Optional)
You won't find the Sensitrak system on any other brand of tractors. It automatically engages front-wheel drive (FWD) when extra pulling power is needed, and releases FWD when you no longer need it.
The Sensitrak system eliminates scuffing of turf in mowing applications (especially in turning), reduces wear and tear on your tractor's front tires, and increases the life of driveline components. You don't have to think about when you need to engage the front wheels—the tractor decides for you. Or, you can choose FWD full time when the job demands it.
SuperSuite™ Cab (optional)
Add a SuperSuite Cab to your Boomer 3040 Compact Tractor and work in supreme comfort, style and convenience.
Its innovative design provides the most comfortable environment available in a compact tractor cab, keeping the operator protected from weather and removed from dust and noise. The cab's unique roof profile also keeps the overall height low, so the tractor can clear an 8 ft. opening.

Visibility
The Boomer 3040 Compact Tractors' innovative styling makes you more productive and safe. The sloped Boomer Tractor hood design and matching curved-boom loaders give you a clear view of what you're lifting so you can work with confidence.
Serviceability
The Boomer 3040 Compact Tractor is very easy to service.
Because it's easier to maintain, you won't put off routine tractor maintenance tasks—and as a result, you'll extend the life of your tractor.
Deluxe 3-Point Hitch
The 3-Point Hitch is the standard system for attaching tractor implements. But the Boomer 3040 Tractor improve on the standard with deluxe features that make switching implements easy.
You won't have to waste time backing your tractor into exactly the right position for hookup. The flexible link ends, telescoping stabilizers, swinging drawbar and crank-style leveling adjustment allow just one person to fine-tune the connection easily. An adjustable stop on the control lever allows you to return the hitch to a preset position for consistent, level plowing or grading. And the Boomer 3040 lift capacity of 2330 lbs (at 24" behind link ends) allows you to choose larger, more efficient implements.
Transmission Options
You have a choice of transmissions on your Boomer 3040 Compact Tractor: a Hydrostatic Transmission, or a 12 x 12 Synchronized Shuttle Shift Transmission.
Hydrostatic Transmission
12 x 12 Synchronized Shuttle Shift (SSS) Transmission
Lighting
The Boomer 3040 Compact Tractor's lighting package illuminates your work area to both front and side with 4 lights instead of 2, so you can get work done safely and efficiently in low light or nighttime situations. Four powerful halogen headlights brighten your path, and their high-mount location ensures superior lighting even when using front mounted attachments.
Independent PTO System
Power Take-Offs (PTOs) are rotating drive shafts, on the rear and middle of your tractor. Driven by the engine, they provide power to different kinds of implements.
With an independent PTO system, the PTO will continue to run, if engaged, regardless of clutching, changing gears or changing direction of the tractor. This convenient feature makes working with implements easy and efficient especially when working in and around obstacles or when a lot of direction changes are needed.
Foldable ROPS
The Roll Over Protection System (ROPS) is a roll bar mounted on the tractor that protects the operator if the machine tips over. All Boomer Tractors have a ROPS that folds down when it isn't needed, allowing you to take the tractor into low clearance areas, like under trees or lower entryways.
Cruise Control (Hydrostatic models only)
When you need to work at a constant speed, for instance, when mowing large areas or driving the tractor to another worksite, the cruise control allows you to maintain a set speed for extended periods without keeping your foot on the pedal. It disengages automatically when you step on the brakes, just like a car.
Hydrostatic Power Steering
Standard on all Boomer Tractors, Hydrostatic Power Steering provides precise, consistent response with very little effort.
Heavy Duty Rear Axle
Induction hardened rear axles supported by heavy-duty cast iron housings are designed into every New Holland tractor for maximum dependability with heavy implements and demanding torque loads.
High Capacity Hydraulic Flow
The Boomer 3040 Compact Tractor's high-capacity, live hydraulics provide power to the 3-Point Hitch and remote valves, giving you fast implement response. Separate pumps for implements and steering provide excellent performance in high demand situations.
Differential Lock
The Differential Lock foot pedal provides you with extra traction when you need it. If your rear wheels begin to lose traction, simply push down on the heel pedal and both wheels lock together to pull through slippery conditions.
Modern Styling & Design
The sloped Boomer Tractor hood and the matching curved-boom loaders not only look great, but they also provide outstanding visibility. High-impact polymer panels feature a premium paint finish that resists chipping and fading.
